We have increased our numbers this year with 25 boys from Primary 1, 2 and 3. We have started our badgework and this year it will cover puzzles, quizzes , thinking games , bible stories, songs, prayers games, physical activities, treasure hunts to name a few. We will atend the Anchor boy day with the Paisley & District Battalion Boys Brigade where we get to meet other anchor boys from different companies. We had a great day at the Zoo and we saw the pandas they did move a lot but unfortunately they were asleep.
We have 21 boys from Primary 4, 5 and 6 this year and we are busy working to gain our badges. We started our badgework with a keep fit session (circuits) the boys really enjoyed it. The 3rd year boys are doing a project on the United States and they will be making Hot Dogs. We have Group cake making organised. We had a fantastic time at the Fire Station the boys were using the hoses to blow down cones and had a ball. The boys will be showing their skill at marching, especially as they have won the Battalion marching competition for the last two years. We have now entered a few of the Battalion competitions, and the boys achieved a joint 1st in sports and 3rd place in The World. In the Ten pin Bowling competition Daniel Meek got highest score overall and the team were placed in 2nd place. Sadly the Marching competition was cancelled. Competition day 2 the boys won the arts and crafts cup and the bible knowledge cup. At the sports day the boys gained two gold medals and 2 bronze medals and had a great time. We have gained 2nd place overall in the Paisley and District Battalion competition. Well done boys. We all had a great day at the Zoo and we saw the pandas.
The boys in the Company Section are from P7 – S6 after that the boys are eligible to become officers. A typical Friday night’s programme starts with announcements a Christian opening, some drill, two different study groups which are relevant to badgework, PE and games and finishes with the closing fall in and tuck shop. Already we are about to embark on our sponsor walk around the cut at Greenock please come and join us. This year we are donating the money raised to Teen Challenge chosen by the boys. We have had a visit from Teen Challenge and 3 guys told the boys their stories how faith has been the only way they could sort out their problems. The boys had lots of questions to ask but at the same time realised how fortunate they are. This year four of our boys were presented with their Queens Badges. Christopher Semple, Timothy Gray, Euan Sharp and Craig Shields. Well done boys
